ASG’s special election for Student Trustee will be held Feb. 13-15. Election intent forms to serve as the trustee are due to ASG Vice President Adrienne Barlow by 5 p.m. Friday.

“The Student Trustee works in conjunction with the Board of Trustees to represent students to the Board,” Barlow said. “They are a nonvoting member and attend all of the board’s meetings throughout the year.”

ASG seeks a highly motivated and well-organized upperclassman to serve as Student Trustee. To be eligible, the student must currently be enrolled at CMU, and shall have an institutional cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 and cannot be on academic suspension or probation. A full list of qualifications is outlined in the election intent form, which can be obtained by contacting Barlow at abarlow@mavs.coloradomesa.edu or by visiting her office on the second floor of the University Center.

The position is paid. The elected trustee must maintain a minimum of 10 office hours per week. The usual term of the Student Trustee is one year, but since it is a special election, the elected trustee’s term will expire July 1. The former trustee resigned at the end of last semester to pursue other interests.

“We’re looking for go-getters,” Barlow said. “Professionalism is key. They have to be someone who can adequately bring the voice of the students to the Board of Trustees.”

There will be a mandatory candidate meeting at 5 p.m. on Feb. 3 in the ASG office. Candidates will be able to campaign Feb. 4-12. The elected trustee will be sworn in on either Feb. 15 or 22.

For more information on the position, contact Barlow, or attend the ASG meetings at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays in Houston Hall room 104.
