Naggy McGee’s brings Irish spirit and atmosphere to downtown Grand Junction

Naggy McGee’s Irish Pub is located in an old brick building on the corner of Colorado Avenue and Fourth Street downtown.
Naggy’s menu consists of American, Irish and “Soul” food. Their menu has a lot of authentic Irish dishes such as Scotch eggs, corned beef and cabbage, Sheperd’s pie and Irish beef stew. They also have fish and chips, wings and burgers, a selection of salads, and much more. Their menu is more on the expensive side, but still affordable.
We received prompt and friendly service at Naggy’s. Although the bartender was unable to make our first choice drink of Sangria, our server made sure our glasses were never empty and our second choice drink, a pomegranate margarita, was superb. They had a tasty selection of appetizers. The hot wings were delicious, especially the curry flavored wings dipped with blue cheese.
As a health conscious person ordering the Cobb Salad was not the best choice for me. Although it was quite delicious, it wasn’t very well proportioned. The salad had more toppings than lettuce. Piled high with bacon, chicken, egg, and cheese, the Cobb Salad was flavorful, yet not as healthy as I hoped. However, I must add the homemade blue cheese was excellent and had a very unique flavor.
I enjoyed the atmosphere at Naggy’s. The restaurant is decorated with classic Irish decor. They have some bare brick walls and some dark green walls for that Irish feel. Their copper ceiling gave the dining room an antique-like feel. Although I have not seen their back patio, rumor has it that it’s a great place to relax during the summer. Of course, Irish music is playing at all times.
Naggy’s is open daily. They host live music on weekends, featuring local musicians like the Pineapple Crackers, the Shift, Thomansine Brown Project and open-mic nights. They have a small stage located in the middle of the dining room so people can watch live music as they eat.
Open until 2 a.m., Naggy’s is a great bar to check out if you are trying all the downtown bars for the “Main Street Crawl”. They have a great beer selection and serve several local brews. They have a very large drink menu with many Irish-style drinks available for those seeking the pub experience.
