Safe Rides spreads awareness at fifth annual Safety Day

On Nov. 16, students will be able to participate in the fifth annual ASG Safety Day, a free fair that provides resources that can help students stay protected.
Safety Day will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the first floor of the Academic Classroom Building. There will be several organizations participating.
Safe Rides is one of the organizations that will be involved. Safe Rides provides free rides between 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays for CMU students who have been drinking. To find out more about Safe Rides, call 257-9797.
“Safe Rides is a nonjudgmental resource for students,” ASG Director of External Affairs Stephanie Summar said. “Calling Safe Rides when you are drunk prevents a DUI.”
Summar said she is impressed with the participation that is going into Safety Day.
“The businesses that are going to be involved don’t just want to get their name out there, they legitimately want people to be safe,” Summar said.
