CMU professor successfully published: Sci-Fi series hits book stores

Dr. Shay Fabbro is a science teacher at CMU who also writes fantasy science fiction. Her inspiration to write started when she was a child who had night terrors.

“I had a dream when I was in graduate school,” Fabbro said. “Ever since I was a little kid I have had these things called night terrors, which is nightmare times a million. You can’t shake off that you are still in the dream.”

Her books fall under the genre of fantasy with a little bit of science fiction.

“When I was growing up, girls my age were reading Judy Blume and I always have been a prolific reader. Those kind of books were just not interesting to me,” Fabbro said.

Her books include “The Chosen,” “Shattered Destiny,” “The Med Luciah,” and “Dangerous Reflections.” These books can be found on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and the campus bookstore.

Fabbro teaches pharmacology and next semester will teach biology 101 with a lab, Anatomy and Physiology. Teaching here at school and writing books on the side keeps her very busy, but it’s nothing that Fabbro can’t handle.

“It is the teaching not the writing that takes time. The marketing also takes up time while trying to get your books in the hands of readers,” Fabbro said.

As her books grow more popular, Fabbro has no plans to stop writing anytime soon. To read some of Fabbro’s books and suport a CMU professor, head to the CMU bookstore to search for some of her titles.
