Buy tickets for ski season

Snow has begun to fall in the high country, building excitement for many college students who are preparing for the 2011 ski season. This winter sport doesn’t come cheap, as many students took advantage of the Powderhorn National Ski Patrol’s annual ski swap that took place Friday and Saturday at Two Rivers Convention Center.
The Powderhorn National Ski Patrol puts on the ski swap every year as their main fundraiser. This nonprofit organization provides on-the-hill emergency services for injured skiers at Powderhorn Ski Resort. In the past, the ski swap has usually been a one-day event, however, ski patrol member Mark Madison said this is the first year in a long time that they decided to host it for two days.
“A lot of people came Friday night, and we’ve seen a lot more show up today,” Madison said. “We’re pleased with the turnout and we hope that everyone had a good time, and took home some great ski and snowboard gear with them.”
In addition to merchandise, lift tickets were also being sold for several ski resorts around the Western Slope including Powderhorn, Telluride and Crested Butte.
If you missed the ski swap this year, lift tickets can still be purchased on their websites.
Well Fargo has a deal that combines a Copper Pass with opening a new account. Students, faculty and staff are all eligible to receive a 2-for-1 Adult Rocky Mountain Super Pass voucher when they open a new Wells Fargo checking account with an initial balance of $100. The account must be opened by November 11, and the voucher must be redeemed by December 11. Students must provide proof of college enrollment when opening an account, as well as a college ID to redeem the voucher.
For big savings this winter, check out your local Well Fargo Bank, located on the first floor of the University Center. For more information, contact Madison at 242-0315.
