Retired businessman joins the Board of Trustees

Bob Wilson is bringing a lifetime of leadership as a new Trustee at CMU.
Wilson was born and raised in Fruita. He graduated from Mesa College in 1961 and went on to earn his bachelors degree in accounting from Western State College.
Fresh out of college, Wilson worked for an accounting firm in Denver before moving back to Grand Junction in 1970.
In 1973, he served on the Board of Directors for Rocky Mountain Health Plans. In 1986, he joined RMHP full-time holding positions such as Chief Financial Officer, among others. Wilson became the Business Manager for The Daily Sentinel in 1977. In 2003, he co-founded the Grand Junction Free Press, and retired in 2005.
“When I attended [Mesa], the ability to go here was a big deal,” Wilson said. “The school offers a unique opportunity for kids on the Western Slope. The opportunity to serve on the board and make a difference now and in the future is important.”
As a trustee, Wilson said his job is to do a good job today to meet the needs of students, and planning to ensure [CMU] will be around to serve the needs of students in the future.
Wilson said he thinks that serving as a Trustee will be a lot of fun.
“The culture [at CMU] is as good as it gets,” Wilson said.
