Kardashians living on borrowed fame

Keeping up with the Kardashians originally premiered on E!, Oct. 14th of 2007.  Now, four years later, the show is still being aired, along with three other shows based around the trio of sisters: Khloe and Kourtney take Miami, Kourtney and Kim take New York, and Khloe and Lamar. The sisters have released clothing lines, books, perfume, action figures, and, of course, a sex tape. What’s the fascination with the Kardashian/Jenner family? How has this trio of sisters become so successful without any intelligence or talent?
Bruce Jenner, Kardashian’s step father,  is the 1976 Olympic decathlon champion, but on the show he’s made to look like a giant pansy. His daughters take advantage and walk all over him. His wife, Kris, makes a mockery of his manhood in almost every episode.
Kris Jenner, mother, claims to be the “business manager” of the family, but in reality, she’s the main cause of stress. Hence why her daughter, Kim Kardashian, fired her as her personal manager. She’s a 56 year-old woman, dressing as a 26 year-old, who has done nothing but coast on the success of the men in her life. She has no success to claim as her own.
Kourtney Kardashian is the most like her mother: unsuccessful, unintelligent and painfully annoying. Her and her boyfriend/baby-daddy, Scott, provide a great deal of entertainment for viewers with their dysfunctional and unhealthy relationship. As if that wasn’t enough, they took it upon themselves to bring a child into the world. Nothing says good reality television like a child out of wedlock, born by two people living off their family’s wealth.
Khloe Kardashian, married to Lamar Odom of the LA Lakers, is the most tolerable of the bunch. Her dry sense of humor and blunt honesty keeps the other members of the family in check. She’s undeniably the most down-to-earth of the “KK’s.” However, as down to earth as Khloe may seem, she’s still a Kardashian so it would be silly to think she has her life together. Khloe was arrested for DUI in 2007.
Kim Kardashian has received the most attention from Americans. This is likely because when you enter her name into Google 80 percent of her hits are related to her sex tape with R&B star, Ray J. Proving that in order to be considered a successful reality TV star, you have to video tape yourself having sex. Who would have thought? Kim is often portrayed as very high maintenance. She’s also very sensitive and whiney, especially while dealing with her siblings. If you can’t take the heat, Kim, stay out of the Kardashian kitchen, which, in actuality, can’t be that heated because we all know Kris isn’t cooking.
The Kardashian trio seems to be taking over America one Quicktrim commercial at a time. The girls have rapidly risen to stardom for absolutely no apparent reason, except for being rich and beautiful. Is this the example Americans have chosen to set? That accepting a free ride to fame based off inherited money and mere association makes a person successful? Success is a product of hard work, determination, and dedication. Not of a rich mommy, ex-Olympian step-dad, and a sex tape.
