New name brings new MAVcard

MAVCARD

Students have 10 more days to swap their old Mesa State College MAVcard for the new Colorado Mesa University MAVcard.
Until Oct. 14, the CMU MAVcard office is allowing students the option to take a new picture for their new CMU ID. If students do not get a new photo taken, their old photo will be printed on their new card.
According to MAVcard office employee Chelsea Nason, students will need to trade in their old Mesa State MAVcard in order to pick up their new CMU card.
“If they don’t have their old ID they’ll be charged the $15 replacement fee because we’ll have to assume it’s lost,” Nason said.
Currently, there is no specific date for the release of the new MAVcards, but students can pick up their cards in either late October or early November. The new cards will also come with a card holder, something that the current MAVcards do not.
“I think having a new CMU MAVcard will be helpful because we’re a university now, and it will be nice to show the change,” freshman Lexi Zambrano said. “Having a card holder will also help students to be more organized.”
Current Mesa State MAVcards will be valid until the end of this semester, and can still be used at the rec center, dining areas, and a variety of other places.
To get a new photo taken, students and staff can stop by the MAVcard office on the first floor of the University Center from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no fee for a new photo.
