The Summer Soundtrack rocks at Mesa Theater

The Summer Soundtrack put on a show for the Grand Junction community last Friday night at Mesa Theater. They were accompanied by Drop Top Lincoln, Dinosaur the Musical, Alpine Shore, and We, The Awakened.
Ben Lohle and Shawn Langley started the band The Summer Soundtrack after they met at a hotel. Langley had just gotten out of his former band Chamberlynn. Lohle is a singer and Langley is a guitar and bass player.
Two years later they added a couple new band members, bass player Conner Mayer, guitar player Drew Fields and drummer David Momanus. Since they have been together the band has been through a lot together.
“There has been a little bit of everything. We recorded in Colorado Springs about a year and a half ago and went out East for a tour, but people we were going on the tour with bailed. We had to go home early,” Lohle said.
The Summer Soundtrack’s name came from a well known artist, Boys Like Girls. Lohle chose lyrics from their song “Thunder” for inspiration.
“We get a lot of influence from bands like that,” Langley said.
Friday’s concert was something the band was really looking forward to. The band has a lot of interest in playing at Colorado Mesa University, but timing did not work out this time.
“I would love to perform at CMU. We tried to play at The Cab show, because they are one of my favorite bands,” Langley said.
The band put a lot of hard work and preparation into the show. Before this last weekend, they had not played together for a while.
“We were very excited, I miss just hanging out, and recording,” Langley said.
This weekend’s show had a great turnout and left fans hoping that The Summer Sountrack will be back. The band has high hopes of playing at Warped Tour in the near future.
