The Moss Performing Arts Center was filled with classical music last Thursday night as CMU’s faculty opened up the music season with an event called “The Gala.” The event showcased eleven faculty members who each played a wide variety of different types of music.
“The event is meant to showcase new faculty and old faculty to our patrons,” Music Department head Calvin Hofer said.
The event had the best turnout yet with over 200 people in attendance in the recital hall. The concert began in 2005 as a way to start the music season at CMU.
“It allows our patrons to hear all of our faculty in one concert,” Hofer said.
It is the most popular event that the music department hosts that involves faculty.
“This is an annual event that kicks off the year,” Hofer said.
The next event that features faculty is at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday Sept. 22.
