Mesa Theater and Lounge re-opened its doors Aug. 25 for “U Night” which was formerly known as “College Night.” After being closed for six months of renovations the lounge is welcoming Colorado Mesa University students again. Mesa Theater & Lounge is a night club that is located in downtown Grand Junction at 538 Main Street.

The club is a venue for concerts as well as a variety of other events. Mesa Theater will host several shows and themed nights this year. The renovations that closed down the well-known club included expanding the upstairs Skybar creating more room for dancing and socializing, refurbished bathrooms, as well as a completely renovated front lounge. This makes the overall experience more enjoyable and memorable.

Due to Colorado Mesa University’s name change, Mesa Theater changed the name of “College Night” to “U Night”. This is an 18+ event that takes place every Thursday night from 9 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. Every Thursday, DJ Mouch will be spinning everyones favorite dance and party tracks. Tickets are sold at the door for $9. If a CMU student presents their MavCard at the door, the price drops down to $8. For those 21 and up, regular charge is $5 and entry is free preceding 10:00 PM.

There are a multitude of events to partake in. Monday through Wednesday, Happy Hour will start at 5 p.m. and go until 7 p.m. Following Happy Hour on Wednesday there is an Acoustic Lounge Showcase and there is no charge at the door.

On Sept. 9, 2011 the well-known music group Alien Ant Farm will be performing at Mesa Theater. Tickets are on sale for $20, and directly following the concert, “U Night” will commence at 10:30 p.m. with DJ Mouch. The following week, on Sept. 15, Jonathan Tyler & the Northern Lights will be performing. Tickets for this event will be $10.
