Thunderstorms, wind gusts and chilly temperatures couldn’t stop Mesa State’s Residence Hall Association from putting on its traditional Battle of the Building competition Saturday afternoon. The event, which placed students from each resident hall against each other, let each hall earn points for Pinon Pallooza.
Teams and supporters were easily spotted, as each resident hall had a different colored t-shirt. Teams competed against in challenges such as ice block melting, ultimate rock, paper, scissors, and jousting.
To say that students had a certain pride and loyalty to their hall would be an understatement, as members from each dorm cheered on their classmates and friends in every competition.
“I just want Rait to win,” Freshman Christy Morris said at the start of the event. “I’ve been up since noon yesterday preparing for this. We have a reputation for wining and we want to keep it that way. We’re a family.”
The event proved to be a success, as students were shown taking pictures of each other and enjoying themselves throughout the day.
“It was a wonderful competitive extravaganza,” said freshman Tess Matsukawa. “I’ve never had this much fun in my life. I love Tolman!”
RHA will wrap up the semester with Pinon Pallooza, which will be held April 29 – 30.
