Broadway unveils its secret to Mesa State

A piece of Broadway has made its way to the Grand Valley. This is no exaggeration, BT McNicholls, a current director of several Braodway shows, is visiting Mesa State this week, April 7 – 9.
His recent credits include “Billy Elliot” and “Spamalot”. He is also won the Australian version of a Tony for his work, and has worked with celebrities like Mel Brooks, David Spade, Lynn Redgrave, and Cindy Lauper among others. He’s produced work for national and internationally renowned companies Johnson and Johnson, Disney, MGM, and AT&T.
The theater faculty have arranged for him to come and teach all of the acting and directing classes Thursday and Friday and he will also be teaching several workshop classes in addition to that.
The workshop classes are open to the general public and will cover what it means to be involved with music theater in today’s world. There are three opportunities to attend one McNicholls’ work shops. ‘Where is the Broadway Musical today” on Thursday at 3 – 5 p.m.,  a Musical Theater Performance workshop Friday 2:10 – 5 p.m., and a final workshop Saturday “Writing the Broadway Musical” 10 a.m. – noon.
Workshops will be hosted in the Mesa Experimental Theater and all community members are invited and welcome to experience what McNicholls has to offer. As is custom in theater etiquette anyone wishing to participate should arrive a minimum of 15 minutes early.
