Watch your words

This week the Mesa State Gay Straight Alliance wants students to watch their words by launching a new campaign “Expand your Vocabulary.” The campaign is an effort to find other ways to say “stupid” or “bad” other than the phrase “that’s gay.”

The idea for the campaign was in part inspired by a similar campaign called “Think B4 You Speak” which features commercials with Hillary Duff and Wanda Sykes.

The campaign launches March 30 when the GSA will cover the campus with posters. Later that night GSA is hosting a panel discussion in the Academic Classroom Building, room 111 at 5 p.m. The panel will focus on bullying, stereotyping and suicide surrounding the GLBT community.

T-shirts supporting the cause will follow at Mesa State’s Unityfest April 13-17.
