Students and staff are in for a tropical treat this Friday. As a part of Mesa State’s Homecoming weekend, themed “Welcome to the Jungle,” Associated Student Government organized a carnival. It will be hosted in the large parking lot adjacent to Elm Hall and begins at 7:30 p.m.

“(Welcome to the Jungle) has been a ton of fun putting together,” ASG chief of staff Justin Kawcak said. “It has been one of the most successful [campus] community endeavors so far this semester.”

Organizing the homecoming carnival is a combined effort of more than 20 of Mesa State’s clubs and assemblies, representing student interests from all over the spectrum. Food will be available (Mav Money will not be accepted. Cash only), and KMSA will play music all night long.

Most games and events will begin at 7:30 p.m. and run for about two hours. From jousting to pie-throwing, car-bashing to fortune-telling, beer(less) pong to a dunk tank, it will be a night not worth missing.

Students will also have the chance to win a Homecoming exclusive. If students can visit every booth by the end of the night, they may be on their way home with a Homecoming t-shirt. Make sure to stick around until the end of the show for the long-awaited bonfire.

How do you feel about loin-cloths? If you answered “yes,” then you know exactly what ASG is talking about. Students (and staff, especially) are encouraged to dress up like the party animals they are. Homecoming was themed for a reason, and if you have the most exquisitely decorated crib on campus, you could win the grand prize. So hang some ribbons, overgrow your ivy, find some boas, and rage like its 10,000 B.C. Although the dedicated members of Mesa State’s government and clubs have put in more than enough time and effort to make this night as treat for Mesa State students a success, there is always room for more hands.
