Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) will host its Fourth Annual Business Executive Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 1 at Adobe Creek National Golf Course, 876 18 ½ Road in Fruita.
The tournament lunch starts at noon and tee-time is at 1:30 p.m. Each team is a foursome. The cost to register a team is $340, which includes all fees, lunch and a chance to win $10,000 as well as other prizes.
“We try and provide as much as we can without incurring costs,” said PBL President Justin Kawcak. “We try and give our golfers a good experience.”
The tournament is in a four-man scramble, which allows golfers of every skill level to compete.
The Winners will bring home the PBL Cup, a prized trophy that spent last year on display at Alpine Bank.
“We are trying to start a good tradition by implementing the PBL Cup,” Kawcak said. They also have a plaque in the PBL office that has the winning teams’ names on it.
PBL depends on local businesses to sponsor the event. If a business or individual is interested in supporting PBL by sponsoring a hole, the cost is $145. Hole sponsors are given the opportunity to support PBL’s future business leaders as well as to promote their business in person (although this is not required). They are able to set up a booth on the field and hold their own games or contests and give away prizes and/or services.
Proceeds from the tournament will go towards funding traveling costs for PBL members to attend both national and state competitions. PBL sent 24 members to the 2010 State Leadership Conference this year and brought home 72 awards, including the award for largest chapter in the state.
“We have a reputation of great success which is a great tribute to the community and staff here at Mesa State,” Kawcak said. “We try to give back as much as we can. Our continued supporters do a lot of great things for our fundraisers to make sure that everyone has a good time.”
