The MSC’s entrepreneurship club will hold it’s annual Idea Challenge at Entrepreneurship Day on April 14. This challenge is for students with great thoughts who are looking for a way to solve or improve an idea. This gives them an opportunity to show their innermost creativity.
“This opportunity is open for any students who want to apply for the contest, not just business majors,” said Thea Chase, assistant professor for Entrepreneurship/Management.
In order to participate contestants must fill out an application about their idea which can be downloaded off the H drive under download/tchase/idea challenge. All applications must be submitted to Thea Chase by 7 a.m. on April 12.
Individuals can work on the challenge on their own or in groups of two or more. There will be ten finalists from the group category and ten finalists from the individual category. Finalists will then make a presentation to judges on Entrepreneurship Day.
The first place prize for the group category will be $500 and the first place prize for the individual category will be $100.
“Good ideas don’t just come from business students, it comes from every area of study,” said Noe Moctezuma, president of the Entrepreneurship Club. “Anyone who is interested in this idea challenge is a perfect candidate for the Entrepreneurship Club even if you’re not a business student.”
This is the third year the challenge is being held and has only had good outcomes in the past. Last year’s winner for the group category was an idea called Dress for a Night. The students came up with the idea of taking dresses and having a company rent them out for one night. The winner for the individual category was a voice activated drink device. This was a machine that would read you the ingredients of any drink you said out loud.
If interested submit applications to Thea Chase at tchase@mesastate.edu by 7 a.m. April 12. If interested in joining the Entrepreneurship Club or receiving information on upcoming events contact Noe Moctezuma at nmoctezu@mesastate.edu.
