Ride the Rockies is on its way into town and is looking for volunteers to help run the two-day event, June 12 – 14. They are giving Mesa State student organizations the first opportunity to volunteer.

“By supporting Ride the Rockies, it gives the opportunity (for student groups) to earn some money,” said Dana Nunn, MSC media relation director.

The financial support MSC receives from Ride the Rockies for volunteer work will be shared by the student organizations based on participation and time spent volunteering.

The job opportunities include security personnel for parking, security personnel for bike storage and campus grooming. Some volunteer positions require 24-hour patrol.

Ride the Rockies is expected to house 3,500 people in North Avenue Student Housing, Grand Mesa and the gymnasium. Dr. Calvin Hofer is also beginning the search for musical entertainment for the two-day event.

The deadline to apply for volunteer positions is Wednesday, March 31. If interested in volunteering or for more information on job descriptions contact Wendy Weinberg at 970-248-1902.
