Senior goaltender Remi Reeves made his first start since his knee injury in 2019 against the Lions coming away with 10 saves in 57:47 minutes. Saint Leo University’s (SLU) goaltender Ian Areford made 16 saves as he saw 61 shots in the game.

SLU struck first in the game, but the Mavericks answered with four goals taking the momentum with them. The Mavericks won all eight faceoffs in the second quarter as they were playing make it take it.

The halftime adjustments seemed to work for SLU in the third quarter as they allowed two goals. Head Coach Vince Smith and the Mavericks found the weakness as they exploded for six goals to put the game out of reach.

CMU’s defense caused 10 turnovers as they contained the Lions offense all day.
