After an emotional farewell from members of the previous Executive branch, Bautista and Haas were sworn in as the 2020-2021 student body President and Vice President.

Priorities that are being established by the new administration include focusing on the biannual, safety, mental health, sustainability, diversity and inclusion.

“Personally, I believe a leader surrounds himself with people that know stuff that they don’t know,” Bautista said. “Being able to have different trains of thought, being able to have people play devil’s advocate on different bills is going to make us refine everything we’re doing for the biannual to make sure that we’re being fair, we’re being just and we’re having equal decisions across the board.”

The biannual addresses the allocation of student fees to assist CMU organizations for the next two years. Haas encouraged the public to extend their input and concerns when it comes to the biannual process since student fees help fund future jobs, events and opportunities within the clubs and organizations on campus.

President Bautista and Vice President Haas are confident and excited about the work they plan to pursue this academic school year.

“It’s a great feeling because of how much work Angel and I put in, and everyone put in, to getting us here,” Haas said. “Going from Senate to [Vice President], being a part of the meeting to running the meeting is definitely a huge transition and one that I’m excited to make.”
