More and Walters help earn a fourth place finish

Graduate student Hannah More and redshirt sophomore Elly Walters led the Mavericks in scoring as they helped finish the West Texas A&M Fall Invitation in fourth place.

The Mavericks get contributions from everyone as they finished in fourth place of the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational. 

Graduate student Hannah More led the Mavericks with a score of 154. More finished seven strokes over par in the first round before shaving four strokes off her score in the second round. She finished the first day tied for 13 on the player leaderboard. 

More ended the day with 23 pars registered to her name.  

 Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Women’s Golf Team finished with a team score of 627. The Mavericks sit three strokes behind Angelo State University (ASU).  

ASU was five strokes behind the Mavericks in the first round, but they shaved 20 strokes off their score in the second round to jump CMU in the standings. 

Redshirt sophomore Elly Walters finished one stroke behind More in each round as she finished tied for 19. She finished the tournament with a score of 156 as she shaved four strokes off her score from the first to the second round. 

Walters led the Mavericks in birdies as she ended the day with five. She also finished third on the team in pars with 18 on the day.  

Redshirt freshman Crystle Querol finished the first day tied for 23 with six other golfers. She is 15 strokes over par with a total score of 159.  

Querol registered 20 pars and three birdies through the first day of the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational.  

Freshmen Sadie Kelley and Myranda Kotlowski were the final two Mavericks that participated in the tournament, and they finished two strokes apart. Both shot 84 in one round of the tournament.  

Kelley ended her day with four birdies as she had the second-highest number of birdies on the team. 

CMU finished the day in third with a total of 95 pars, and they had 17 birdies as they had the fifth most tournament wide.
