Mavericks lack consistency as they finish seventh

The Maverick’s golfers were separated by ten strokes, and three of them finished one under par in the second round.  

The Mavericks finished with 573 total strokes as they finished in seventh.  

Redshirt junior Kyle Pearson finished under par in both rounds of the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invite. He ended tied for third with a score of 139, and he started off strong shooting a 68 in the first round.  

Pearson led the Mavericks with pars as he registered 27 on the day and he finished tied for a team-high seven birdies.  

Junior Dane Anger finished second in scoring for the Mavericks as he was five strokes behind Pearson. He finished his first-round shooting one over par and ended his second round shooting one under par. 

Three Maverick golfers finished tied for 30 or more.  

Freshman Yael Chahin ended day one tied for 30 with a score of 146. Chahin was one of the eight golfers who finished with a score of 146. He joined Anger one of the two Mavericks to register an eagle on the day.  

Redshirt freshmen Ethan Bishop and Peter Grossenbacher rounded out the Mavericks lineup with scores of 147 and 149.  

Bishop was two-under par after the first round before he added seven strokes to his first score to end tied for 38. Bishop tied Pearson for a team-high seven birdies through one day of the tournament.  

Grossenbacher finished the tournament tied for 44, but he finished second for the Mavericks in pars with 23. He ended his first round with a score of 74 before adding one stroke to his finish in the second round. 

The tournament was supposed to play two rounds today but was suspended due to darkness with most teams not being able to finish their second round. 

The Mavericks were one of the few teams to finish, so they can’t start their third-round until the other teams finish their second in the morning. 

CMU continues the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invite in Pueblo, Colo. They will resume the second round and start the third round at Walking Stick Golf Course.
