The Mavericks completed a successful road trip by defeating University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS) by a final score of 54-46. It was the only meeting the two teams will have this regular season. It also marks the fourth straight win for the Lady Mavericks.

CMU now sports a 15-4 record, and a 9-4 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) record. UCCS sits at 6-12 with the loss.

Although with the score rather close, the Mavericks employed solid defense throughout. CMU limited UCCS to under 40 percent shooting in both halves. The Mountain Lions only shot 36.4 percent in the first half, and 37.5 percent in the second half.

The Mavericks were once again led by Erin Reichle. She scored 23 points on 8-17 shooting, including 3-10 from deep. Jaylyn Duran notched 15 points and recorded 5 steals. It was a hard fought effort as the team only recorded 5 total assists.

CMU struggled from three-point range, shooting 23.1 percent (6-26). The team shot a modest 40 percent for the game (20-50), doing most of their damage in the second half, where they shot 45.4 percent (10-22).

Where CMU excelled was points off turnovers and points in the paint. The Mavericks outpaced UCCS in both categories, scoring 16 points off turnovers compared to 4 for UCCS, and scoring 18 points in the paint, 9 points greater than UCCS. UCCS committed 13 turnovers.

The Clyde were led by Lauren Bennett who registered 12 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 assists. She was the only player in double figures.

CMU will host Black Hills State University at Brownson Arena on Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m.
