The Associated Student Government’s meeting on Feb. 20 involved discussion of senator appointments to empty seats.
ASG Senate Leader Colton Rupple presented Sydnee Gatewood for the open seat for Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics senator and Derek Irick for the open seat for Business senator. After each candidate went through a question and answer session, the senators held discussions. After the discussions were closed, the senators voted to appoint both candidates to fill those open seats. Both Gatewood and Irick were sworn in as new senators.
Prior to the ASG meeting, there was a Judicial Nomination Meeting held for nominee Jasmine Tellez, a third year student who is double majoring in International Business and Political Science. She is wanting the position of Justice within ASG. She said that she wants this position because she wants to help students and the clubs and organizations. She was asked questions from each of the senators that were in attendance of that meeting. After discussions, a vote was taken. The nomination was passed.

The Dance Society attended the meeting to request funding to attend The American College Dance Association regional conference being held in Salt Lake City at the University of Utah. They have 14 members who will be attending the event. There will be universities from eight other states also attending. The bill passed to provide funding in the amount of $3,363.67.
The Athletic Training Club attended the meeting to request funding for lodging and transportation to attend the Rocky Mountain Athletic Training Association conference in Phoenix, Arizona. There will be nine members going. This conference is an opportunity for those members to network and to speak to graduate schools who will be in attendance there. The students training to be athletic trainers work with Colorado Mesa University sports teams for their training. After discussions, the Senate passes the bill for $2400 to fund the transportation for this trip.
