We chose to do satire for this edition because April Fools is on Thursday, and we felt that everyone needed a moment to relax and enjoy some humor.
We are about two weeks removed from midterms and things aren’t slowing down anytime soon. So let’s try to enjoy this week, this semester and this edition.
With the world still in disarray, we felt that it was a perfect opportunity to try and give our community a laugh. We felt with April Fool’s coming up on Thursday, we thought we should have some fun and make some quirky content.
April Fool’s is supposed to be a fun day and with the year that everybody has had, we felt we should have some fun with this edition. We all remember taking the frosting out of an Oreo and replacing it will toothpaste, right?
This edition was our toothpaste Oreo.
College is supposed to be the best time of our lives before being sent into the workforce and we felt like we should try to insert a little bit of fun into the ordinary. We are aware of the difficulty that the spring semester presents, so we wanted to give students something to enjoy.
Student burnout is very prevalent across campus this year, so we wanted to try to give those students something to distract them. This is the longest semester in a normal year, and it only got longer with no spring break. So, this is our way of saying, “hang in there, we will get through it together.”
We are college students just like everyone else on campus and we are experiencing that burnout just like everyone else. We felt that doing a satire edition this week would help everyone take a breath and enjoy the fresh air.
One definition of a Maverick is being an independent-minded person. While we are all Mavericks, we don’t have to go through things alone. We’re a Mavily after all.
We are all dealing with something whether it be emotional or physical pain, but we don’t have to deal with it alone. As Mavericks, we are a community that loves and supports one another.
Instead of us being independent this semester let’s group together to tackle one of the toughest semesters that we have had to go through.
While college is supposed to be fun, it is also stressful and it isn’t always the easiest time of our lives. That is why we chose to do this edition.
We don’t know if you guys watched “WandaVision”, but this edition was designed to bring some color into everyone’s lives much like Wanda does in episode three.
We wanted to provide some entertainment, but also we wanted to give everyone a break from all the seriousness that has come with the past year. So, as a community, let’s stop and smell the roses before we get back into this grueling year.
