CMU wants students to name engineering building

CMU holds contest to give name to engineering building

1102

Colorado Mesa University is holding a naming contest within the internal campus community for a temporary name for the new engineering building. Once the university has secured a donor, the building will be permanently named, in the same vein as Moss Performing Arts Center or the Hamilton Recreation Center.

Submissions for the naming contest can be submitted through a student’s MAVzone account. Similar to Grand Mesa, Monument or Piñon halls, the name should be in some way related to Grand Valley area features. Submissions may not be in reference to a person’s name or an outside organization.

These entries should include the person’s name, their contact information and the suggested name.

The contest will have three phases: name generation, narrowing the list of finalists and voting. The first phase is the generation of names and will take place from Sept. 22-29. All submissions are due by the end of this time period.

These finalists will be entered into a Survey Monkey poll for the third and final phase of the contest. The link to the poll will be made available to students, faculty, staff, alumni, advisory committee members and donors, all of whom will be able to vote for their favorites.

The top two winners will be awarded an iPad each.
