Colorado Mesa University’s women’s soccer team had a high offensive affair against Western State on Friday, despite the score ending 1-0. Alexis Allard scored her second goal of the season in the 80th minute to give the Mavericks their 4th win of the season.

Both teams finished with 19 shots a piece for the game, with the Mavericks edging the Mountaineers out 11-7 in shots on goal. Lauren Thompson led CMU with five shots in the game, while Paige Massey led WSU with five as well.

While CMU finished with more shots on goal, it was WSU who took more corners in the game, finishing with 8 to the Mavericks 3.

Emily Signorio got her second start of the season in goal for the Mavericks. The victory gave Signorio her first win of her collegiate career. She finished the game with seven saves and her first clean sheet of the season.

CMU will now look to their next test on Sunday against the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. The game is set for 12 p.m.
