Club fair generates excitement among students

Colorado Mesa University offered students the ability to visit and interact with their 151 clubs and organizations on Tuesday. While not all clubs were present at the fair, several students set up tables to spread the word about their club, reaching out to as many students as possible.

Unlike last semester, the fall club fair took place at the Plaza as opposed to the Ballroom. This allowed students passing by to have easy access to the information as opposed to holding the event in a location off the beaten path.

While the purpose of the fair is to reach out to students and to aid in the recruitment of students, enhancing their campus involvement, some used the fair to reach out and network with other organizations.

“I’m here to network,” Bryce Langley general manager of Colorado Mesa University Television (CMU TV) said. “I’ve made good connections with the Gay Straight Alliance, and a variety of people on campus and they’ve all been very receptive to being on TV and being interviewed by our talent.”

Others are new to campus and are looking for friends, career connections, and something to do at CMU. “I want to get more involved, I think it’ll help my academics. I think if I’m busy, I have more motivation,” Emma Azeltine, freshman, said.

The club fair took place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Aug. 28. It is unknown when the next club fair will be, but the contacts for all of the organizations are available on OrgSync accessible through Mavzone.
