As CMU’s media director retires, CMU searches for replacement

Colorado Mesa University is searching for a public relations director. The selected candidate will replace current Director of Media Relations, Dana Nunn.

Nunn will be retiring at the end of August of 2018, after 20 years at CMU. The search for her replacement as begun and the title will be changing to public relations director. The application deadline is May 15th 2018 and the hiring process can take 30 to 60 days.

According to the posted job description, the public relations director will be assisting CMU to build brand awareness at the local, state and national levels. The director will promote CMU through communication to a broad audience including students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, elected and public officials, donors, perspective students and their families.

The director will work with the CMU marketing team and be placed in the marketing office. He or she will be performing a variety of writing and editing duties to support and enhance communication that engages CMU and Western Colorado Community College.

The director must know journalistic standards for fact-finding, research, verification and style when performing their duties.

The salary will be between $72,000 and $95,000, commensurate with education and experience and there will be health and retirement packages. The employment type is administrative and the job is now posted on CMU’s website.
