Doctor Carroll Mutlz, a business law and media law professor here at CMU, has over 50 years of experience as a lawyer and a teacher. Multz has been with CMU for a little over two decades, has written and published over 15 books, produced music soundtracks, technical manuals and has handled an outstanding number of cases as an attorney.

“Loyalty towards my friends, staff, school and everybody I form a relationship with,” Multz said when asked what people who do not know him personally should know about his career.

Multz also talked about how

much he shows respect for others as he always tries to see other’s’ point of view.

“I was taught integrity by my father,” Multz said.

Multz was inspired by his father to pursue a career in law as his father was an attorney in the state of Montana where he was raised. Multz was always with his father in the courthouse, which has now become such a familiar environment for him.

Multz attended Carroll College in Helene, Mont. where he was a pre-med student for two years. He continued his education at the University of Montana where he earned his undergraduate degree in a bachelor of science in business

administration. He then continued at the University of Montana School of Law where he eventually earned his J.D.

Multz’s experience has lead him to teach in a unique way he calls “show and tell.”

“Real life situations connect better with the students in situations where pragmatic is the dogmatic,” Multz said.

These are special teaching techniques, where he addresses and illustrates real life situations by introducing his own previous law cases into his classes.

Multz has a few mottos he lives by “To thine known self be true,” and “Once you’ve lost self-respect, you have lost everything.”
