On May 14, the Literary Review hosted their annual launch party to celebrate the release of their collection of stories, poems and works from the English and mass communications department.

On May 6, The Moss Performing Arts Center held its annual Spring Choir Concert in Love Recital Hall. The Concert featured Vocal Chords, the Soprano/Alto Choir, and the Tenor/Bass Choir.

On May 3 and 4, the senior performing arts majors presented their capstone projects. The acting and directing majors staged a cutting of Tom Stoppard’s “Rozencranz and Guildenstern are Dead” on May 3. The design and technology majors presented projects inspired by their tech focus in lighting and costuming. And the musical theatre majors performed thirty minute cabarets that they wrote themselves on May 4.

Tuesday and Thursday May 7 and 9, the Directing 2 class in the theatre department presented their one act plays in a festival. Shows began at 7:30 pm in the Mesa Experimental theatre. Six shows in total were performed, three on each night. There will be another One Act Festival prepared next Decemeber.

The Run for Ricky Run for Life 5K took place on Saturday May 4. The course wound its way around campus and featured encouraging words and phrases for runners to find as they made their way along the track.

The Dance department is hosting Emerge, a student choreographed concert on May 10 in the studio in Moss Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $5, and the show begins at 7:00 pm.

The fourth annual Mavalon Film Festival is being held on May 10 at the Avalon Theatre in downtown Grand Junction. The festival features short films and animations from the film, photography and animation program, including senior capstone films that were made in collaboration with actors from the theate department.

Shades of Shakespeare is an upcoming choir concert featuring classical and contemporary songs, operas, musical theatre and spoken work presentations that will celebrate the life and influence of William Shakespeare on the academic and performance worlds.

On May 2, the Mariachi band performed in the Robinson Theatre at 7:30 p.m. They were joined by guest artist Juanita Ulloa. Ulloa is a professor of voice in San Leandro, CA.
