The Point has recently started to look for ways to cut expenditures or money spent by limiting operation hours to the busiest times of the day, which has helped increase profits, according to Professor Georgann Jouflas.
The Point will hold events for students to enjoy and socialize. The most recent one being Pub Night, which seemed to be a success.
The Point is run entirely by students who have chosen to take the 400 level management class. This 400 level management class is open to all majors looking to gain experience in the small business management field. This management class gives students a hands on work experience.
The Point has recently created a new logo and changed the beverage deals as it looks to rebrand itself and drive profits. This announcement came via their Instagram page on March 18.
The new logo is a simple white and black design which includes a new slogan, “Where all good things come together.” The new logo also has the words “Beer. Wine. Food.” at the top. This is a big change from the last logo which only included The Point’s name in white lettering with a black background color.
The Point has also released new beverage deals that are listed on their Instagram page: @thepointcmu. On Monday, it is Mimosa Monday which includes happy hour prices all day on mimosas and cherry wine. Tuesday is called Tap Tuesday, which offers all tap beer prices reduced by 50 cents all day. Wednesday is Ladies Day, which offers ladies their first drink of the day for $2.50. Thursday there is no listed daily deal, but Friday is called Freshmen Friday, which offers all freshmen two dollar pizza and games.
The food that is offered by The Point is the only food service on campus that is not Sodexo food. The students that manage the point are looking for new ways to engage with all CMU students. The Instagram page seems to be the most update and active communication channel for students to follow and learn about deals and events going on at The Point. The Point also has a Facebook page and will often advertise events and specials in the Stall Street Journal.
