The other day I literally woke up crying. It was on a Tuesday and I had class at 8 a.m. I still managed to drag myself out of bed but it didn’t stop me from shedding a few tears on campus. It got me thinking: where are the best, most private places on campus to shed a tear?
Yes, I’ve done the legwork for you, so that when need be, you can just head to these central spots for some privacy:
Crite Staff | The Criterion
The University Center:
Pretty much anywhere upstairs in the UC, honestly. Apart from the student life area, the rest of the upstairs is pretty vacant. The all time best, though, is the bathroom behind the ballroom. There’s a short hallway right across from Student Life that’s lined with a few small rooms.
Right across from those rooms is probably the largest bathroom on campus. It has about 14 bathroom stalls and a sink on either side. Yeah, TWO sink areas. Nobody is ever in there, so you can probably be as loud as you want. So much room and so much privacy. The one in particular that I’m mentioning is a women’s restroom, but don’t fret, fellas. I’m sure there’s a men’s equivalent.
The Library:
So many crying spots in the library. So many. The little study rooms are a prime spot to shed a tear, although, not a great spot to weep. I would save your ugly cries for a spot that’s a little noisier than the library. There’s also a spot on the second floor on the opposite side of the stairs. It’s in a corner and there is a help desk, two study desks and a couple bookshelves. It’s tucked away just enough for some privacy.
I’m all about just going in between two of the giant bookshelves and sniveling there as well. There’s also some random rooms and hallways that are normally vacant. My suggestion is just go take a look around the second or third floor. You’ll find something quaint and private.
A closet:
A closet is going to be your least and most practical bet at the same time. You probably won’t have much luck finding one that’s unlocked. These locations are prime for quantity, though. Every building has several closets to choose from: supply closets, janitor closets, random closets. Are students supposed to go into these closets? Probably not. I will neither confirm nor deny accessing a supply closet to cry. Am I suggesting that you do it? You tell me…
Balconies:
There are rarely people out on the balconies of any of the buildings. Go out, get some fresh air, and cry it out. The good thing about balconies is you can be as loud as you want, and there’s a balcony in just about every building on campus so it’s easy access.
If you’re having a rough day but have to be on campus, there are plenty of spots to be alone and wallow. Pick your favorite and just cry it out. Ain’t no shame in this game, sweetie.
