Bonnie Duffy – Art & Life Editor
Working at the Criterion has been one of the highlights of my college career. The editors and staff writers are such a diverse, intelligent, funny, and kind group of people. I have learned more here than in many of my classes as a Mass Communications major, proving that experience is still the best teacher. If you are even thinking about joining a student organization here at CMU, you should absolutely do so. The Criterion is an organization that is so important to this campus, and I know from experience how much work goes into staying in touch with student life and campus culture. I have made friends and memories, developed lifelong skills, and I’m so thankful for my time here. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the Crite by reading the paper, and will always cherish my time here.
Becca Dunn – Opinions Editor
When I started out as a staff writer at the Criterion in 2024, I had no idea just how important this student organization would become to me, as some of my best memories over these last two years at CMU have come from the Criterion and its staff. From writing hate rants about Twilight and hanging out til the early hours of the morning during design days, I will truly miss the chaos, insanity and the friends I have made along the way. It has been an honor and a privilege entertaining the masses of CMU *recorder version of the titanic theme*.

I’ve been with the Crite since my first semester here, but something special unfolded two years ago when I became the photo editor. Every other Wednesday, I would place the latest edition atop a slowly growing stack. It’s 30 papers tall as I write this and 31 as you read it. Their margins are teeming with annotations, ink slightly smeared, creases fraying from overuse. It smells like home.
That stack—and the hours of labor and laughter that built it—makes me heartbroken to leave but has prepared and inspired me for the work ahead more than anything else at CMU. Thanks and hugs to all the editors, staffers, and Steve; I had so much fun both behind the camera and beside you all at meetings and design days. Time to start stacking something new!
