The people you need most seem to be the furthest away.
It’s not easy having your family miles and miles away from you. When things aren’t going your way, sometimes you just want a hug from your mom. Or a night watching movies and laughing with your siblings. Thankfully, there is FaceTime, which will just have to do for now.
Your bank account scares you.
Every time you swipe your card, you cross your fingers and hope it gets approved. You want to go shopping or out to lunch, but instead, you stay in. Why does everything have to cost so much? Sorry, Dad, you may be getting a desperate call for money soon.
Your friends are getting engaged. You’re still going on Tinder dates.
Everyone around you seems to be happy and in love. Every time you log on to Facebook, you see another one of your friends is getting married. Sometimes you love being single, while other times you get lonely. But there’s no need to worry, you have plenty of time to find that special someone.
You refuse to be sick.
No…this can’t be happening to you! There is so much work that needs to be done, but instead, you’re stuck in bed. Nyquil has become your new best friend, and tissues cover your bedroom floor. You lay there reminiscing about what it was like to be healthy. Those were the good old days.
You just can’t catch a break.
When you finally think you are getting your life together, another obstacle pops up. You feel like somehow you are always one step behind. You have to remind yourself, sometimes things have to get worse before they get better.
Life seems overwhelming.
You have work, school, extracurricular activities and a social life to keep up with. Sometimes it can feel like too much and you just want a minute to sit and breathe. It feels as though there is so much to do, but so little time to do it. Being busy can be stressful at times, but you wouldn’t trade your crazy schedule for anything.
People expect you to have it all figured out.
Wait a minute…you’re supposed to know what you want to do with your life? When you don’t even know what’s for dinner? You are constantly being told how young and naive you are, but also being expected to make life decisions. You wish a genie would appear and make all your hard decisions for you.
Getting a full eight hours of sleep is a joke.
You have forgotten what it feels like to wake up refreshed and rested. You would do anything to be able to take a nap, or two.

You can feel yourself becoming a new person.
You can’t really describe how you’re feeling. All you know is you are changing, and who you used to be no longer exists. You are starting to realize the kind of people you want around you. You have developed a greater respect for yourself. You are becoming more aware of the type of person you are.
Life is confusing.
There is still so much you have to learn and figure out about life. You have so many questions but can’t find the answers. Life lessons are hitting you fast and hard; however, you are slowly learning. You know one day you’ll find your way. Until then, you’re just enjoying the ride.
