After losing their first game of the season earlier this weekend the Colorado Mesa University Men’s Soccer team responded by thumping No. 18 Regis University 3-0.
Kevin Del Mazo scored a wonder goal to open the tally for the Mavs. Del Mazo took a free kick from 40 yards in the 20 minute and scored his third goal of the season to give the Mavericks the 1-0 lead at halftime.
CMU didn’t stop the pressure in the second half, however. Del Mazo this time provided the assist for the goal as Matthew Miller would score his first goal of the season on a pass to the middle of the 18-yard box to double CMU’s lead at the 60-minute mark.
To seal the victory it would be Del Mazo again who got on the scoresheet after scoring from a ball from Moshe Perez. CMU dominated the game offensively, outshooting the Rangers 12 shots on goal to 2.
Briley Guarneri rebounded from Friday’s loss with his fourth clean sheet of the season.
Next weekend will be the first time all season CMU heads to the road. They play Adams State in Alamosa on Friday.
