This notice was copied verbatim from a document the Criterion received from CMU Administration.
All fees and fee increases are reviewed and approved annually by the Trustees of Colorado Mesa University. At its meeting on May 16, 2026, the Trustees will act on a proposed Student-Centered Facility Fee of $5.00 per credit hour beginning in Fall 2026. Said fee will be dedicated to funding the construction and financing of a new parking structure in a central location on the University’s main campus.
The Associated Student Government may consider a resolution on this fee.
STUDENT’S RIGHT TO APPEAL:
Any part-time or full-time student or student group may appeal a proposed fee assessment or increase at any time before or during the period beginning on April 16th, 2026, and ending May 15th, 2026.
An appeal must contain all required components outlined below, or it will be denied without further review. An appeal must be submitted in writing to the University’s Vice President of Finance & Administration, 1100 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81501. At a minimum, each appeal must include the following:
(1) The reason for the appeal
(2) An alternative proposal and
(3) A petition supporting the appeal containing the signatures and student identification numbers of not less than 3% of enrolled students. (Approximately 294 Students)
After reviewing and consulting with Associated Student Government, the Vice President of Finance & Administration and Vice President of Student Services will then forward the appeal recommendation to the University’s President prior to submitting to the Trustees for final approval.
