Spring is almost upon us! Winter is coming to a close, which means we can go have fun outdoors again.
My favorite places to go is not a short list, but we will start with the Gunnison Gorge. It is a National Conservation Area and it is absolutely beautiful. Fishing there has always been incredibly fun and you can socially distance very well.
There are two places in Utah, which are a nice change in scenery. Zion National Park and Moab are amazing places to hike. The red colors are a contrast to the lush green of my favorite places in Colorado, but it is nice to have an occasional change of scenery. As always, water is important, but even more so in the desert!
My dad always took my siblings and I to East Portal in the Black Canyon. It can be a brutal place in the cold, so it is exciting for the warmer weather to be approaching so I can spend time with my family in our spot.
The Grand Mesa is one of the closer spots to Grand Junction and it is beautiful at any time of year, but definitely more inviting during the spring, summer, and fall. It is a great spot to fish, hike, or even just take pictures. The colors are gorgeous and there are so many spots on the Mesa that it is easy to find a secluded one for family and friends to have a great time.
Blue Mesa is located in Gunnison and it is an amazing place to have a great day outdoors, you can paddle board, tan, fish, and set out on a picnic. This place is a picture perfect scene that is incredible to visit. While in Gunnison, you can even get phenomenal pizza at Mario’s.
Going outside is one of the best things to do in the warm month after being cooped up in the winter. It is also easier to social distance in the great outdoors, so go hike, swim, or even just find a nice tree to write under.
