Editor’s note: The headline was changed from CIC to “Cultural Inclusion Council”
The Director of Cultural Inclusion Council (CIC) Jasmin Tellez and Assistant Director Gaby Rodriguez have resigned from their posts, effective as of Monday, Feb. 24.
The reasons for the sudden resignations are not known.
“We’re well aware of the struggles that will be brought to us by not having a director or assistant director, but we’re not afraid and we’re not worried,” Associated Student Government President Beau Flores said.
Organizations that are a part of the CIC include the Black Student Alliance, Genders & Sexualities Alliance, Ho’olokahi Polynesian Alliance, International Student Alliance, Latino Student Alliance and Native American Student Alliance.
Flores, who is also the Vice President of the Ho’olokahi Polynesian Alliance, said that the CIC will move on. “Our plan forward is to come together, help out each alliance, build each alliance, which I think is the meaning of CIC, and just kind of go from there.”
The resignations leave Communication Director Aaron Reed as the sole remaining CIC director.
Talks are ongoing as to whether a new director and assistant director will be hired for the remainder of the semester.
Events that the CIC had planned in the future, including Unity Fest coming up in April, will reportedly not be affected by the resignations.
