Dr. Nancy Alex, a former Assistant Professor of Teacher Education at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), passed away peacefully at her home in Montrose, CO on Aug. 27 at 54 years old after a four-year battle with esophageal cancer.
Dr. Alex was born and raised in Casper, WY. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a secondary education teaching certificate from the University of Wyoming.
Following her passing for teaching, she received her Master’s Degree from Adams State and a Ph.D. from the University of Denver, both in education.
Dr. Alex first became a principal at Red Hill Elementary School in Gypsum, CO. She then moved to Montrose, CO in 2008 and became the principal of Centennial Middle School and later became a professor of secondary education at CMU in 2015.
Dr. Alex continued to mentor and teach the students of CMU until she left in March 2019.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Montrose, CO, followed by a reception in the church’s Baldridge Hall
