The Colorado Mesa University Foundation held a Day of Giving on Wednesday in the University Center. The event provided fundraising campaign opportunities for student clubs and academic departments.
“Today is CMU’s 94th birthday, and the foundation is celebrating it by putting on a day of giving,” CMU Foundation CEO Liz Meyer said. “We opened it up to the campus to have their own campaigns and they raise money for student clubs, different academic departments and then the campaign with the most donors at the end of the day will receive a five thousand dollar match for their fund.”
The Day of Giving is “for academic departments, student clubs, organizations, anybody on campus that has a need above and beyond what they’re able to do,” Meyer said. There are 18 campaigns this year, which is more than previous years.
So far the event has raised over 22 thousand dollars, exceeding last year’s benchmark. Meyer anticipated raising close to 30 thousand from over 600 donors by the time the event officially ends Thursday morning at 8 a.m.
