Remember, you’re a diamond and never let anything dimmer your sparkle. With that said, higher education can be rough sometimes. As the class pace begins to pick up, you find yourself having multiple assignments due all at once. The feeling can be overwhelming and soon, we can feel extremely mentally exhausted.
A helpful thing to do is make a list. I know it sounds weird but hear me out. Seeing everything you need to get done puts things into perspective. Also, if you cross off the easiest one first, you get a sense of accomplishment.
Personally, I like to procrastinate way too much. When everything is due, the feeling is crazily overwhelming. When this happens, I usually go get food and then take a long nap.
Naps are a helpful thing. They can improve brain function and help you focus. Rule of thumb on naps though, it needs to be at least 15 minutes long and no longer than 90 minutes.
Speaking of taking a break, get out of the house and away from the school work. Go outside and get some fresh air. Maybe go for a walk and clear your mind or let your thoughts ramble. Better yet, go for a drive and blast the music. Play your favorite song or show-tune and sing your heart out. Maybe you end up on a trip to the monument or the mesa. Maybe you end up in a drive-through to get food.
You also might end up at the gym on your short trip. The gym is an excellent place to lift weights, go running and relieve all the built-up stress. Exercising will not only produce endorphins to make you feel good, but they will also elevate neurotransmitters. That means they will help you feel better and help you focus.
If you don’t feel like leaving your residence, leave your homework in a separate room and go watch a show or video. Turn on Netflix and watch an episode of The Office or Parks and Recreation. Let your brain produce those endorphins and get a nice laugh.
If you don’t feel like searching through endless choices on Netflix to find something to watch, try YouTube. Click on a video under the recommended section and go from there.
These are only a handful of suggestions you can try. Hopefully, they help someone out, and remember, check on your friends and help them out.
