For most at Colorado Mesa University (CMU), they are counting down the minutes until they can hit the road. Thanksgiving is upon us and students are out the door and on the way home to celebrate.
But, there are some who won’t be traveling home this holiday season. For those who are stuck on campus over Thanksgiving break, practically alone due to the school nearly shutting down, it can get pretty boring. Have no fear, here are some fun ways to enjoy Thanksgiving while away from home.

First, there is a little-known tradition called friends-giving. For those of you who know of other students who will be spending the break in town, give them a call and plan your own little Thanksgiving shindig.
For those of you who just want to eat some turkey, there are several local options. First Christian Church, located at 326 N 1st St, will be hosting a Thanksgiving meal Nov. 22 from 11 am to 2 pm. The Salvation Army will also be offering a free Thanksgiving meal at the Elks Lodge on Nov. 22. Hotels and Restaurants, such as the Doubletree, Golden Corral, Grand International Buffet, Village Inn, etc., will be serving Thanksgiving meal options.
Other than celebrating the holiday, have some fun over this break. Go see a movie, catch up on Netflix, do some gaming, and enjoy some time to relax.
Whatever you are up to over this Thanksgiving, have fun!
