Remember Vine? Sure you do. It may be dead, but it’s not forgotten. How many hours of your life were spent watching short video after short video, laughing heartedly at the silliness presented? Thanks to senior resident assistants (SRAs) with help from the Residence Hall Council (RHC), you can relive that joy.
Society offers a lot of stress and reasons to frown. The world is a serious place with some seriously messed up things happening all the time. With so much negativity, it’s imperative to find and celebrate sources of levity.

That’s where the Vine Party put on by RHC comes in. On Oct. 19 in the University Center Ballroom from 9-11 p.m., you can turn your frown upside down by dressing up as your favorite vine.
Dressing and acting like something that has brought mirthful laughter to your lips will allow you to share that joy with your fellow Mavs. Sharing laughter with friends is a great way to offset the dour aspects of existence.
It’s absolutely great that somebody came up with the idea for this party. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a student that didn’t enjoy Vine while it was a thing, so this offers a tremendous bonding experience.
The added incentive of an Apple watch prize for the best costume is a nice touch. Apple products have become so popular with the current generation, they may just replace the dollar as the preferred method of currency.
The world is serious enough. Take a break from it, grab all your friends, dress like your favorite vines and spend Oct. 19 laughing and remembering the days of yesteryear when such entertainment was only a couple of clicks away. Come for the watch, stay for the sheer joy of it.
