Applications for scholarships due

Many students are looking for that extra money to pay for school. A scholarship could be just what they need. Mesa State College offers many different scholarships for students who qualify, and the application process is simple.
They have scholarships for continuing and returning students in business, humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics just to name a few. There is also a scholarship for incoming freshmen. Their GPA, ACT, and class rank in high school will be evaluated after they are accepted into MSC. This scholarship covers up to 120 credit hours.
“Every dollar in scholarships you get is a dollar you don’t have to pay out of your pocket or later on in a loan with interest,” said scholarship coordinator Shanon Hawkins.
There will be workshops offered for students who are looking for information on scholarships or have any questions about filling out the Free Application for Student Federal Aid (FAFSA). On Sundays there will be a college goal workshop from 2-4 p.m. in the ACB building, where there will be help available for students filling out their FASFA until the deadline comes.
MSC also offers high school nights for seniors that need help or have any questions.
“Once you see the FAFSA online and start filling it out, students realize it’s not hard at all,” said Curt Martin, director of financial aid.
According to Hawkins, MSC is given a limited amount of scholarships for students each year, the only way the college receives money is if the student is enrolled in school.
Visit mesastate.edu/finaid before March 1 to fill out the FASFA form, or more information on scholarship that are available.
