Your week on campus (1/29-2/4)

This week on Colorado Mesa University campus there are events for all students to participate in. There is a lack of home events for those sports fanatics, but CMU does stream videos of away games. 

On campus, there are a few things to take part in. 

Say Hello to Handshake happening in the University Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday. Handshake is an app that is to help students find jobs and internships. On Thursday night PAC is hosting an open mic night at the point from 7-9 p.m. 

Reminders!

Wednesday is the last day to add or drop a full semester class. It is also the day that all late fees will be assessed on unpaid balances. 

Off-campus on Saturday at Cruisers Bar from 6-9 p.m., there will be a remembrance of Ciara Romero. There will be a silent auction and raffle prizes that will go to the Romero family.

Even though the games are away this week, there will be live streaming. 

Men’s and Women’s basketball will be in Gunnison on Tuesday and then Utah on Saturday. Softball is in New Mexico this week. Wrestling will have their RMAC championships in Colorado Springs. And the track team is in Boulder for the CU opener on Saturday. 

The music department has events this week. So students get over to Love Recital Hall in the Moss Performing Arts Building to listen to some music.

Friday Eric Edberg on the cello and John Kamfonas on the piano will perform at 7:30 p.m. Edberg is a classical improvising cellist that will be a guest at CMU. On Saturday there is the Cello Day final concert at 4 p.m.

The first art reception will be held this Friday. The reception will go from 5-8 p.m. and the artist talk will begin at 5:30 p.m. This show called “Catharsis” will feature painting and sculpture by Michaela Cross, Cynthia Hendrickson, Tanner Hoffman and Terri VanBenschoten. 

 
 
 

Adventures this week. 

Ouray Ice Climbing this weekend Saturday and Sunday. There will also be the XC Ski during the full moon in Grand Mesa Wednesday and Sunday. There is one avalanche class in Silverton Friday through Sunday. 

Don’t forget the OP also has their kayak rolling on Monday night and Wednesday nigh climbing sessions. Also, there will be shuttles to Powderhorn Tuesday and Thursday.
