Trump’s statements more than ‘locker room talk’

Donald Trump was on the news nearly everywhere this past week after his comments on women, later covering it up as “locker room talk.” Time Magazine was one of many of the reporting sources that stated this was the absolute last straw for many voters – especially those of the younger population.

There is still a constant, stirring debate on whether it was something that should be dismissed, or whether or not it was a serious reflection of the presidential candidate’s view on female rights, feminism and rape culture.

Trump is known for saying the most outrageous things – Mexicans are rapists, he’s going to build a wall, people are stupid – so on and so forth. While all of these sayings were (surprisingly) taken seriously by many supporters promoting Trump, this last statement he made may have ruined it all.

It’s almost ironic how Trump presented women at that very same debate to speak out against former President Clinton’s potential sexual history, while he ends the night with the biggest takeaway headline of all time – “It’s just locker room talk.”

“I think Trump’s comments undermine every man in America, especially those of us who are trying to end sexual assault in this country,” student Tyler Fransen said. “I also think by him saying that it’s just ‘locker room talk’ further makes other men who have no interest in doing the things Trump is implying look bad because it now seems like all men act and talk like that, when they really don’t.”

If anything, I’m glad that was Trump was diplomatically irresponsible enough to let something like this slip out of his mouth. With tensions high and risks even higher, Trump’s idiotic statement may have just determined the winner of this year’s election. Especially so recently after Stanford University’s Brock Turner rape case, Trump could not resist a stab at one of the most sensitive and controversial topics in news today.

Donald Trump is a racist, misogynistic, condescending media manipulating swine who does not know when to quit. If he ever does become president, I pray for our country the day that he slips another inappropriate, irresponsible statement that could do us harm.

Please vote, everyone and vote wisely.
