The Mavericks capitalize on five Ranger errors to secure the 6-3 victory Friday night.

Colorado Mesa University (CMU) started their night off with scoring two runs on a throwing error by third baseman Matt Marlow. On the play, sophomore designated hitter Haydn McGeary and sophomore outfielder Tanner Garner scored, The batter at the time, junior first baseman Jordan Stubbing reached base as well.

That was not the only error that Regis University (RU) saw in this one, and not the only error from Marlow as well.

Another error was counted towards the Rangers in the 4 as freshman outfielder Robert Sharrar advanced to third on a throwing error from Roger Riley. That play allowed junior third baseman Calab Farmer to score as well.

Marlow’s second error of the game came as junior shortstop Chase Hamilton reached on a fielding error as the ball was not played cleanly. The error allowed another run from the Mavericks as McGeary took advantage and touched home making it a 5-1 game.

The Rangers were not out of this one yet though as Marlow doubled down the right field line allowing Kyle Kootz and Riley to score. It was not enough though as they could not capitalize on the two errors from the Mavericks.

Three CMU batters had a multi-hit night as Farmer, freshman second baseman Jonathan Gonzalez and senior outfielder Tyler Parker all had two hits. Gonzalez was the only Maverick to have two RBIs for his team as most of their runs were unearned.

The Mavericks had a hard time figuring out Justin Kleinsorge who was almost untouchable as he only had six hits against him. Even though he had six hits he was able to strikeout 11 Mavericks including junior catcher Spencer Bramwell who struck out three times against the right-hander.

The pitching on both sides was solid as both pitchers got into jams at times but were able to get out of it.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Andrew Morris was handed the ball as he was looking for his third win of the season and was able to do so.

Morris had his third consecutive game with double digit strikeouts for CMU. He ended his night after seven and one third innings of work. He ended with four walks, three runs and ten strikeouts.

The bullpen was able to close this thing out and the Mavericks came out with a 6-3 win.

The Mavericks continue this pod series weekend with a game at 3:30 p.m tomorrow against Adams State University in Grand Junction, Colo.
