The Colorado Mesa University (CMU) Men’s Soccer Team is gearing up to host the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Tournament and play in the semifinals.

The Mavericks are heading into the tournament with a 14-3-1 record along with the advantage of playing on their home turf as the number two seed. The team is expected to face an aggressive tournament but is looking to continue their dominating possession during the conference.

“I think if we have learned anything it is just to worry about ourselves and be the best versions of ourselves,” Head Coach John Fridal said. “The entire time I’ve been here and throughout my coaching career what we have been the best at is making people adapt to us.”

The Mavericks have a strong foundation going into the tournament. The team adapts to the same level of play as opponents do and are expecting a highly competitive and aggressive conference.

“This is a really big part of the season. At this point it is time to focus even more,” redshirt junior defender Ethan Anderson said. “This is everything we have been training for and it has been leading up to this. We’ve worked really hard and our mindset is we can rest when we accomplish what we accomplish. Our eyes are on the next game.”

Each game has been physical and hard-fought for the Mavericks, and the RMAC Tournament will be no exception. The conference will force the men’s team to work more collaboratively on the field and push their abilities to create dynamic plays to thrive in the postseason games.

“There is a lot of experience and we have all been playing in big games before,” redshirt junior midfielder Colton Shafer said. “That’s why I went to this school, I want to win a trophy and I want to win one with the guys around me.”

The CMU Mavericks are set to take on Regis University in the semifinals of the RMAC tournament on Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. on their home field.
