On a road trip to face two tough teams in Denver, Colo. the Mavericks were able to split the road trip going 1-1.

The Mavericks dropped their first road game of the weekend to Colorado School of Mines (CSM).

Shooting only 36.7% from the field the Mavericks fell 51-59 while only shooting 20% from behind the arc.

CSM got off on the right foot as they took a very strong five point lead to begin the game. Sammy Van Sickle made the first three pointer off of a turnover from Colorado Mesa University (CMU).

Redshirt Junior guard Monica Brooks got a hold of a rebound and was able to go for the three for CMU and the same play. The next point for the Mavericks was another good three pointer from Brooks as she was the second highest scorer for her team on the night.

Graduate student guard Daniella Turner led the pack with 21 points as she was able to capitalize on going 7-7 at the free throw line. She also led the team in rebounds as she was able to get six on the defensive end and one of them offensively.

The team was able to bounce back in a big way Saturday afternoon as they took on Regis University.

Turner was able to score the 1,000 point of her career in a Mavericks uniform. She became the 19 person in the program’s history to do so. Turner had a gigantic second half as 16 of the 24 points she shot came in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Turner also had a solid night defensively as she led the team in rebounds with nine.

Martin also had a big contribution to the team’s win as she was able to score 31 points for CMU. She went 13-19 in the field and 3-6 from behind the arc.

The team improved their shooting percentage from the field to 49.2% and their three point shooting percent to 33.3%.
